I Don't Get It | Sketches | UPP Studios

  • 05/14/2018

UPP Studios presents, another ultra-short new media sketch comedy videos, entitled “I Don’t Get It”. When we write a sketch, we don’t always know right off the bat who will play which character. We like to switch off character types as often as possible as to not pigeon-hole ourselves into any single role. For the film Pineapple Express, Seth Rogen and James Franco were originally intended to play the opposite parts that they wound up playing. Since the characters they were supposed to respectively play were the exact characters people would expect them to play, they decided to switch things up and swap roles. It wound up being a fantastic decision that dramatically heightened the comedic effect. For this sketch, Adam and David decided to swap roles after filming 4 or 5 takes. While both could have played either role interchangeably, they felt it might be more interesting in this instance to switch parts and see how things played out. As important as planning is, it is equally as important to be able to adapt on the spot. As opposed to scrapping an idea that doesn’t feel like it’s hitting the peak of it’s potential, try examining it from all angles, to see if there is another plausible approach. That’s what we did and it worked out swimmingly! Thanks so much for tuning in, and please, let us know what you think in the comments section below!
